Paulette Nelson, of Hi-Spirits, who carried forward the respected Hi-Spirit’s kennel name established by Dee and Bob Morrison, collaborated with Mary Morris, of Aus Dem Norden GSPs, in breeding a special litter that produced beautiful, talented examples of the German Shorthaired Pointer breed. Hi-Spirit’s Dark Velvet, aka “Carmen”, was bred to BISS Am/Can CH Carl Aus Dem Norden Ryelle. Carlyle was one of the 5 puppies in the litter born on May 1st, 2007.

Carlyle was the second Shorthair to join our family when Erica, our youngest daughter, needed her own GSP for Junior Showmanship. Erica and Carlyle have enjoyed a special bond throughout their relationship; at just 10 years old, Erica handled Carlyle to his Championship, and continued together to earn his Grand Championship, International Puppy Championship and Rally title. Carlyle also earned his AKC Junior Hunter Title, and most importantly, spent countless hours hunting intensely with the entire Greeman family. Carlyle's JH completed his GSPCA Versatility Certificate. Carlyle has continued showing at the German Shorthaired Pointer of Minnesota Specialties, and won Best Veteran at the GSPCMN Specialty when he was 12, where his youngest pups were also competing and winning! Today he still has pep in his step at 13 ½ years of age! Not bad for a Grandfather.

Carlyle is the perfect example of the traits we value in our Shorthairs. He is a solid example of the versatility of the German Shorthaired Pointer, bringing excellent conformation and health, trainability and obedience, and strong hunting skills. Most importantly, Carlyle exhibits a balanced disposition with both intense drive in the field and the calm and gentle temperament necessary to be a great family member that can settle in the home.

Carlyle has sired three litters producing highly successful relationships with their owners and the capability to perform well in whatever forum in which their owners choose to participate. Grand Champions, Champions, Master Hunter, Junior Hunters, Obedience, Rally, and Hunt Tests, Carlyle’s puppies do it all, and at the end of each day they enjoy living as companions with their families.
